Day 1: TROGIR
Upon arrival at Split Airport. Visit of Trogir. The medieval old town of Trogir ( UNESCO World Heritage site ) with its winding streets is on an island and is considered one big museum, rich in cultural and historic treasures and sights-simply gorgeous and mysterious. Free time for lunch in one of the many restaurants of Trogir. We will see the Cathedral of St. Lawrence with a known Portal by the master Radovan, City Loggia from the 15th century, the Cipiko Palace, the Town Hall and the 11th century Benedictine monastery. Free time . Dinner and overnight Split / Trogir Riviera.
Day 2: SOLIN – KLIS – SPLIT
First morning visit of nearby Roman settlement of Solin where we will visit the ruins of this ancient town. Afterward visit of Klis – fortress and seat of Croatian kings and film location of Game of Thrones. Continue to Split, the largest Dalmatian city and port, 1700 years ago it settled on the Marjan peninsula surrounded by the historical town of ancient Salona. We will stroll the narrow streets of Diocletian Palace, the 4th century roman Emperor Palace, tour its preserved cellar galleries and ancient Peristyl Square where you visit the old Temple of Jupiter and the Cathedral. We will also pass the protected Golden and Silver gate, through historical squares to the lively markets and the Riva, ideal place for strolling and shopping. Dinner and overnight Split/Trogir Riviera 4* Hotel. .
Day 3 ISLAND BRAC
We take to morning ferry to the largest Dalmatian island, where we will visit the highest top of all Adriatic mountains Vidova Gora, with great views to the sourrounding islands, the city of Bol with Croatian most beautiful beach „Golden cape“, the marble stone caves of which the Washington White House was build and as well the island museum which shows the way of life on the island throuht the centuries . We will have lunch old place inside the island in a typical island family restaurant. Transfer ferry back to Split. Dinner and overnight .
Day 4 MOSTAR DUBROVNIK
Morning drive over over the Dalmatian hiterland through an area which has seen various cultures and religions over the centuries, each of them leaving traces of its presence. We stop at Imotski to see the blue and red lake. The second deepest lake in the world. Continuation to Mostar. During the Turkish rule, Mostar was an important trade centre, traces of that period still being visible when visiting the old Bazaar, the Mosque or a typical Turkish house and the old new brigde. From Mostar we continue torwards Dubrovnik. Dinner and overnight in Dubrovnik Riviera.
Day 5 DUBROVNIK
Morning sightseeing of the Old town Dubrovnik. We pass through the Pile Gate and enter Stradun to visit the Franciscan Monastery, Sponza Palace, St. Blaise’s Church and the Rector’s Palace. Afternoon free time to explore the walls and the ile of Lokrum in front of the Old town. Dinner and overnight in Dubrovnik Riviera.
Day 5 MONTENEGRO
After breakfast we drive to Montenegro. Located along one of Montenegro’s most beautiful bays is Kotor a city of traders and famous sailors, with many stories to tell. The Old City of Kotor is a well preserved urbanization typical of the middle Ages, built between the 12th and 14th century. Medieval architecture and numerous monuments of cultural heritage have made Kotor a UNESCO listed “World Natural and Historical Heritage Site”. Through the entire city the buildings are criss-crossed with narrow streets and squares. We continue our ride on a curvy road with a beautiful view over the Bay of Boka Kotorska up to Cetinje. Once the seat of Montenegrin rulers, today a city-museum, Cetinje is famous for its monuments and we are going to visit the most important one – the King Nicholas’ Museum. After the sightseeing of Cetinje, we return to the coast with a short stop at a belvedere above Sveti Stefan, and then visit the old town of Budva. Budva is more than 2500 year old an one of the oldest settlements on the Adriatic. Dinner and overnight in Budva.
Day 6 SHKODRA ALBANIA
Morning drive to northern Albanian city of Shkodra. Shkodra has been an important city for Albania for over 2,000 years. Visit Rozafa Castle, which offers wonderful views from its citadel, Mesi Bridge and Leaden Mosque. We continue to Durres in Albania, one of the oldest Roman cities in the Mediterranean and the largest sea-port in Albania. This city has one of the largest Roman amphitheaters in the Balkans. Dinner and overnight in Tirana.
Day 7 TIRANA – BERAT AND LAKE OHRID MACEDONIA
Morning visit of Tirana capital of Albania including the National museum. Drive to Berat, the oldest settlement in Albania. Its castles and fort date back more than 2400 years. Visit the Old Quarter and the Icon Museum. Afterwards we continue torward the border of Macedonia where on the shores of lake Ohrid we will visit monastery Struga before arriving to the town of Ohrid. Dinner and overnight in Ohrid.
Day 8: OHRID AND SV. NAUM
We visit the monastery Sv. Naum and afterwards the 11 century castle and other important ancient churches and schools of Ohrid, afternoon at leisure and for shopping. Dinner and overnight in Ohrid.
Day 9: SKOPLJE
In the morning we drive to Skoplje. Visit of Skopje the capital of Macedonia. Inhabited since ancient times, Skopje was an important city for the Turks from the end of the 14th century. The largest Turkish bath in the Balkans is located here and is now an Art Museum. Guided walking tour, visiting the old bazaar with fortress from 6thAD; Church of Sv.Spas with museum and several monuments from Ottoman period: like mosques, hammams, hans, caravan saray, stone bridge. Free time for shopping. Dinner and overnight in Skoplje.
Day 10: PRIZREN AND PRISTINA
Continue to Prizren where we visit the old part of the town and the City Museum and further to Prishtina the capital city of Kosovo. Visit the site of the Battle of Kosovo that sealed the fate of Serbia and the entire Balkan region for 500 years on June 28, 1389. Dinner and overnight in Pristina.
Day 11: PEĆ – UŽICE
Morning drive through Kosovo with visit of Peć and Peć Monastery (UNESCO), up to Uzice in Serbia. Dinner and overnight in Uzice.
Day 12: MOKRA GORA – DRVENGRAD – VIŠEGRAD -SARAJEVO
During the morning we will take a trip with the narrow railway „Sarganska eight „ with a museum steam train. Afterwards visit of the the „Wooden city“ of Emir Kusturica. After crossing over to Bosnia and Hercegovina, we visit Visegrad with Andrićgrad and the famous Višegrad bridge over the Drina (Nobel winner Ivo Andric – Brigde on the Drina novel). Arrival in Sarajevo dinner and overnight.
Day 13: SARAJEVO AND OLYMPIC MOUTAINS
Morning tour Sarajevo where we visit the famous old part „Barscarsija”, the Sarajevo escape tunnel, only exit out of Sarajevo during the war where you can get an inside look at what happend here during the Yougoslav war. In the afternoon we will take the cable car to Sarajevo Olimpic Mountains. Dinner and overnight in Sarajevo.
Day 14: VISOKO – PLITVICE LAKES
Morning visit of Europeans greatest archeological project, the Valley of Bosnian Pyramiedes, in Visoko half an hour from Sarajevo. Experts say that these pyramides are older then the ones in Mexico and Egypt and that the Bosnian Valley of the Pyramids is the most significant archaeological monument in Europe. We continue over Travnik to Jajce to Bihac with short stops. Dinner and overnight at the shores of River Una one of the most beautiful river in Europe.
Day 15: PLITVICE LAKE – ZAGREB
After breakfast, we drive to the Plitvice Lakes National Park on the UNESCO`s List of World Natural Heritage. Sixteen lakes, each at a different level, connected in a series of cascading waterfalls. Surrounded by dense wood, the Plitvice Lakes are a natural phenomenon of a rare and unique beauty. Afterwards we continue to Zagreb. Late afternoon visit of the Croatian capital. Dinner and overnight in Zagreb.
Day 16: LJUBLJANA
After breakfast full day excursion to Slovenia capital Ljubljana. We visit the town hall, central market, church of Saint Nicolas, Dragon bridge, the Presernov square, Ljubljana castel, the old and upper square and the cobblers bridge. Dinner and overnight Ljubljana.
